Tour : 5 Day-High Atlas and Desert Treks-Moroccan


- Day 1 : Pick up at your hotel or riad in Marrakech


After picking you up at your hotel or riad we will head towards Ouarzazate via one the highest mountain passes of the North Africa,Tizi-n-Tichka (2260 meters).We leave the main road to head towards Telouet Kasbah for a visit and lunch then a stop at a functioning salt mine. The next stop is the UNESCO World Heritage site,Kasbah Ait benhaddou , formally a stop for camel trains going from Timbuktu to Marrakesh and now very well known as a cinema backdrop for films such as Gladiator and The Mummy.To end the day we will arrive in Ouarzazate, home of Atlas and CLA studios to spend the night at a hotel. Supper at the hotel.



- Day 2 : Ouarzazate-Skoura-Valley of the Roses- Dades Gorges


We will visit the Taourirt Kasbah, the palm grove of Skoura and the Valley of the Roses. Along the journey you will see Berber gardens. They use an ancient style of hanging plants to dry beside the mountains. We will cross the gorges, it’s a unique opportunity to observe how Berbers nomads live. Depending on the season , a visit to a Nomad family might be arraigned. We will spend the night in a hotel, located in the heart of the gorge. Supper at the hotel.



- Day 3 : Dades Gorges- TodraGorges-Tinejdad-Erfoud-Merzouga Dunes


After breakfast, we will walk a bit around the beautiful cliffs. The next stop is in the city of Tinghrir where you will walk with a local guide to visit the Palmarie and the old Jewish area. You meet back with your driver for your next destination, the Todra Gorge. Here a short walk is the best way to take pictures of this amazing gorge. Lunch stop enroute as you head towards the only genuine “Erg” of the Sahara, it’s an extension of land that gives form to the dunes, this one is 250 meters tall. You will meet up with your camel guides for your sunset trek into the dunes and your Nomad camp for the night. Supper prepared in camp by your guides followed by music around the campfire. A climb to the top of the dunes to see the stars is an unforgettable experience if you feel energetic



- Day 4 : Merzouga Dunes


Early morning wake up to see the sunrise over the dunes before returning to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast you’ll start the tour around the dunes or relax around the pool, It is your choice for this morning. If you decide to tour around the dunes, you will see Nomad families still living in Berber tents and camps and perhaps be invited for tea. Afterwards a visit to the musical village of Khaamalia, listen to a live performance of this style of native music. Return to the hotel for supper and a relaxing evening.



- DAY 5: Merzouga Dunes- Ziz Valley - Midelt - Azrou -Ifrane - Fez


We will leave behind the desert and follow our route to the north east, crossing again the High Atlas mountains. We will pass by the huge palm groves, oasis and ancient cities built in adobe (Kasbahs). They are incredible. Our next destination will be Azrou, a Berber village surrounded by a massive cedar forests with many lakes and home of the Barbary Apes. These apes are found here and on the island of Gibraltar only. This area receives more rainfall that anywhere else in Morocco. An extreme contrast with the desert landscape left behind earlier in the day. We will arrive to Fez at 6 o’clock approximately where you will be dropped at your riad or hotel by your guide.
